Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

1Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what data StrikeBook collects when you use the Service, how we use it, and the choices you have. StrikeBook is a record-keeping and journaling tool for options traders; the data we handle exists to power your own trade journal and tax estimates, not to be sold or shared for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.

2Information we collect

  • Account information. Your email address, used for passwordless sign-in: we email you a magic link instead of storing a password. Authentication is provided by Supabase.
  • Broker import data. The CSV exports you upload from your broker, which contain financial transaction data — trade dates, symbols, option contracts, quantities, prices, fees, and account labels. The original files are stored in a private Supabase storage bucket under your user id, and the parsed transactions are stored in a Postgres database, both scoped to your account.
  • Data you enter in the app. Trade notes, account names, position groupings, and similar journal content.
  • Usage data. Product analytics events (see section 4) and standard technical logs needed to operate the Service.

3How we use your information

  • To operate the Service: authenticate you, import and parse your broker files, group trades into positions, convert amounts to CAD, and generate tax-estimate summaries and exports.
  • To process subscription payments and manage your plan.
  • To understand how the product is used and improve it, via aggregate and per-account analytics.
  • To communicate with you about your account, including sign-in links and support.

4Third-party services we use

  • Supabase — hosts our authentication, Postgres database, and file storage. Your email, your uploaded CSV files, and your parsed trade data are stored with Supabase.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments. Your card details are entered directly with Stripe; StrikeBook never sees or stores your card numbers. Stripe shares with us only what we need to manage your subscription (such as subscription status and customer id). You can manage billing through the Stripe customer portal.
  • PostHog — product analytics. Events such as sending a sign-in link, importing a file, confirming a position, opening billing or checkout, and downloading exports are recorded, identified by your user id and email address. Session recording is disabled — we do not capture replays of your screen, and your trade data is not sent to PostHog as analytics content.
  • Bank of Canada Valet API — we fetch official USD/CAD exchange rates server-side. No personal data is sent; requests contain only date ranges.
  • Marketdata.app — we fetch end-of-day market marks for your open positions server-side. No personal data is sent; requests contain only ticker symbols, option contract identifiers, and dates.

5Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists so your journal and multi-year tax history keep working. You can delete individual imports and transactions in the app. To delete your account and its data entirely, email support@strikebook.ca from your account email and we will delete your data, subject to any records we are legally required to retain (for example, billing records).

6Security

Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with providers that encrypt data at rest. Access to your imports and trade data is scoped to your authenticated account. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — please keep control of the email account you use to sign in.

7Your rights

Subject to applicable law — including Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may withdraw consent to our handling of it (which may mean closing your account). Contact us at support@strikebook.ca to exercise these rights.

8Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you — for example by email or an in-app notice. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
